It’s not painful, however a lot of people experience it as unpleasant. Contact us if you have a medical condition.
If you do not wish to have the test administered in the manner described (see the question ‘What can I expect from a PCR test/rapid antigen test?’), this must be agreed in advance with one of our medical doctors. In some cases we can come up with an alternative together. We never take rapid antigen tests through the throat only. Other options can be discussed. Please contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org.
SARS-CoV-2 falls under the notification obligation for infectious diseases according to the Dutch Public Health Act (Wpg). We are obliged to report positive test results to your local GGD and may not do this anonymously. After notification, the GGD will contact you for a source and contact investigation. The infectious disease control doctor at the GGD assesses the risk of infection and whether measures are necessary such as: isolation and quarantine. Always follow the guidelines of the RIVM.

Yes! The negative test result we will send you is in English. The document is checked on the following 5 points:
Yes, all Spoedtest.nl locations are open seven days a week.
You can order an STI test on our page STI tests. Ordering a test is very simple:
A STI may not always cause symptoms. Therefore, it is possible to have an STI without noticing it. If you want to be on the safe side, it is wise to get yourself tested. The advice is to do an STI test at least every year if you are sexually active.
In addition, do an STI test when you:
With all our STI tests you will receive a thorough instruction and guideline written by our in-house doctor. With the STI test Women, Oral or Anal you take the test by means of a swab. With the STI test Men you take the test by collecting urine in a tube.
After taking the test, you send the tube, with urine or the swab, in the supplied packaging to our ISO-certified laboratory. You can request the results after 24 to 36 hours* in our online portal.
*For a test with Mycoplasma genitalium this is after 36 to 48 hours.
We think (sexual) health is very important. Therefore, we aim to make STI testing affordable to ensure health and safety for everyone. That’s why you can order an STI from €49,95. We can keep prices low because we work with a lab that allows for this. An STI test from us is therefore much cheaper than an STI test from the GP.
Our STI test are analyzed by an ISO-certified laboratory. If you follow the administration instructions carefully and you do not administer the test earlier than 14 days after the last sexual contact, the result you receive from us is just as reliable as when you receive the result from the GP or GGD.
Our STD test has several advantages compared to an ST test at the GP or GGD:
*For a test with Mycoplasma genitalium this is after 36 to 48 hours.
With self-tests, you get the result almost immediately, but these are often less reliable. The test may miss an STD or give an incorrect result. In a study by the Maastricht Infection Center, one Chlamydia self-test from the drugstore scored 12% on specificity. That means that 88% of people with a positive result do not have Chlamydia! The advice is, therefore, to do an STD test that is analysed in a lab. You take our STD test yourself and then send it to the laboratory. Therefore, you have to be patient until you have the result, but this way, you know that the result is reliable.
Yes. The bacteria the vaginal STD test detects are in the mucous membrane of the vagina. So when you have your period, the menstrual blood mixes with the mucous membrane, but this does not affect the reliability of the test.
In your package, you will receive a code from us. Make sure to hold on to this code because it will be your access to a portal with your result. Your result will be available 24 to 36 hours* after the sample arrives in the lab. Note that the result will be deleted after 5 days for privacy reasons.
*With a Mycoplasma genitalium test this is 36 to 48 hours.
Unfortunately we cannot help you with this. To guarantee your privacy, you are the only one who has received this code. Our employees cannot access the portal to find out your result. You will have to get yourself tested again.
If you have tested positive, it is important to contact your doctor. Read more about what to do if you have tested positive.
That’s great news! A negative result means that no STI was found on the tested body part at the time of testing. Keep in mind that a negative result does not always mean with 100% certainty that you do not have an STI. Read more about this on the tested negative page.
We ship all of our tests in discreet packaging via PostNL. The packaging is discreet, meaning that there is no logo or company name on the package. Keep in mind that we’re only shipping to The Netherlands.
Once you have taken the sleeve off of the package, you will have to follow these steps to successfully send the sample to us:
Did you order the wrong test? Or have you changed your mind? It happens! You can cancel your purchase within 14 days without having to give any reason. If you want to cancel your purchase, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org in which you indicate that you are canceling your purchase. We will then send you the instructions to return your package.
The shipping costs for returning are for your own account. Make sure that the STI test is complete and the packaging is unopened, otherwise we cannot process your return.
For more information, please refer to our page returns.
PCR stands for polymerase chain reaction. The PCR-test shows genetic material of the coronavirus in the swab that is taken out of your throat and nose. The pieces of genetic material that are found will be copied and multiplied in the laboratory. This multiplication gives the PCR-test a high sensitivity.
You can expect the following of a PCR test:
The PCR – Rapid test gives a faster result than the PCR – Economy test. You will receive your result within 4 hours
With the PCR – Economy test, your result will be sent within 16 hours. We process the test during off-peak hours in our laboratory. This allows us to guarantee that you will receive your result within 16 hours. Do you want a cheaper test and are you not in a hurry? The PCR – Economy test is the perfect fit for you.
With the NAAT (PCR) Test the result comes within half an hour! We process your test at the test location with our state-of-the-art machines, so you get your result within half an hour. The NAAT (PCR) Test is recommended if you really need your test result last minute.
Yes, all PCR tests on the coronavirus are RT-PCR. RT stands for Reversed Transcription. Because a PCR requires double-stranded material and a corona virus is an RNA virus, the single-stranded RNA has to first be converted into double-stranded material. This process is called Reversed Transcription.
With a PCR-Economy test, your result will be sent within 16 hours. We process the ‘Economy test’ in our laboratory during off-peak hours. This allows us to guarantee that you will receive your results within 16 hours. So do you want a cheaper test and are you not in a hurry? Then the PCR Economy test is perfect for you.
You can book a PCR test for any time of the day. Opening times vary per location, so make sure to check this in advance to know if it suits your needs.
No, it is not possible to have the corona test taken anonymously. If you are tested positive, we need all your data to pass this on to the Public Health Services (GGD). We are obliged to inform the GGD in case of a positive corona test result.
You will receive the certificate in English. The PCR test is the most commonly used test for international travel, so it is important that we provide the travel certificate in English.
The rapid antigen test detects SARS-CoV-2 antigens. Antigens are proteins of the virus where our immune system can give a reaction to. The rapid antigen test shows you if there are found any antigens in your system by a swab out of your nose. Our rapid test is CR-IVD certified and has been found reliable by the RIVM.
The test result comes with a travel certificate in English. It’s your own responsibility to check if the rapid test is valid to travel with.
You can expect the following of a rapid antigen test:
Yes, the Rapid Antigen Test is reliable. This counts for the CE marked rapid antigen tests that are approved by the RIVM. You are probably not contagious when you have a negative test result but it is never 100% certain.
In some cases yes, that is why you will receive an international travel certificate from us. However, a PCR-test is often required. Make sure you carefully check the requirements set by the country in question before you travel.
We don’t know yet. The vaccines are relatively new, so there is insufficient evidence about the effectiveness available.
Yes, you do. Anyone who has been vaccinated should still follow the general corona measures. You can find these measures on the website of the Dutch government.
A vaccine protects you against the coronavirus disease, but we don’t know if someone who has been vaccinated can still spread the virus. In addition, one to two weeks after vaccination, 60-90% of people are protected against the new corona virus, so not everyone is protected. The chance that you will contract the virus after two vaccinations is very small, but it’s not impossible. That is why (for the time being) the same corona measures apply to vaccinated people as to people who have not been vaccinated.
After the first vaccination, you can still get infected with the coronavirus, because your defense against the virus has not yet been fully built up. After the second vaccination, the chance of getting sick is much smaller. Therefore it is important to get the second vaccination.
We do not know yet if vaccinated people can still spread the virus. That is why we are erring on the safe side for now: for vaccinated people the same measures apply as for people who have not been vaccinated.
